Wasserbillig/Mertert is a community at the confluence of the river Sauer and the river Mosel. Wasserbillig lies directly at the german border, and thus it became a major transit site for the over 15000 german commuters coming each day to the Grand Duchy. It has a railway station, a river port, a highway passing by and a national road linking the german town Trier to Luxembourg. It is the lowest settlement in Luxembourg, at 132 meters above sea level. But most overall, it is also a nice place.
