Life is like a sailing ship on the open sea. Life can take you everywhere. And life is free.
Being the captain of your ship you can set the cap to any direction you want to - or you just let you drift.
For moving forward you rely on the the wind. Unfortunatley, like the water the wind is an uncontrollable element. One day it blows from the East, one day from the West. There are days where there is absolutely no wind.
The ship's journey is limited in time. Thus, knowing the direction is important.
Travelling back is also possible - but it takes time. Of course no place will remain exactely the same.
A strong wind from the right side can take you far. But it can also destroy you if abused. A wind from an alternate direction can prove useful as well. Only your pace is slower.
While time passes on, life wants to be cared of. That way the ship's equipment has to be maintained. The storage room has to be refilled. On the other hand - what the ship offers you is enormous: it gives you liberty, and you can use it however you like. If you want you can even share it - with the people you love, and embrace the sea together.
When the journey is over, the ship always returns to the harbor - and takes you with it.
On arrival you leave the ship - forever. But as long as there is the sea and the wind there are always ships cruising the sea.
