With a clear blue sky the day was perfect for observing the 6 hours transit of the planet Venus between the Sun and the Earth. From 7:20 in the morning until 13:23 Venus was visible as a small black point travelling from the East to the West over the sun's disk.
The last transit happened on the 6th of December 1882. So no living person has ever seen such a spectacle before. For those who missed it, they maybe will get a second chance. The next one is scheduled for the 12th of June 2012. The following will be definitely too late: it will happen on the 11th of December 2117.
Thanks to digital technology I was able to take some pictures in the village Born (Luxemburg) during my lunch break. Technology involved in the snapshots: a Canon 300D, a 300mm Tamron lens and a 2x converter (as well as a tripod of course).
